Read! Don't buy a good one for waves

. Don't buy, they are useless. The rubber boots you see in the picture are the only thing holding the pen in place. On two rides on loose gravel I lost a boot pin and the axle fell apart. A small hole formed in the anther of the second pass, and the pin flew out, and the second axis fell apart. Traxxas made a new replacement driveshaft that doesn't have this problem, it's steel with no rubber boots and no retaining spring to hold the pin in place. Traxxas part 9052X - new cardan shafts. Do not buy! Scrap, broken after the 2nd battery!

DO NOT BUY! All of these 1 star reviews are true. I bought and installed these drive shafts, ignoring all the negative reviews and thinking they were better than the stock plastic shafts used on the 2WD Traxxas Slash. Boy was I wrong. First of all I want to say that I don't berate my Traxxas. I'm "running" with some friends at a racetrack in my backyard. No crazy big jumps, no rocks, just dirt/dirt with small jumps. Installed those cardan shafts and the next day I was on the track. I used 2…

Pros
  • Shiny nickel shafts and black silicone boots add personality
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Incredibly weak shafts

I bought these for my Slash 4x4 VXL Ultimate after tearing one of the factory plastic hubs. I used a 5200mah 3S lipo and after about 10 cycles the right rear shaft failed at the joint on the factory plastic block. I did jumps, countless crashes and wheelies and really enjoyed it. After the shaft failed I decided to get one of these kits hoping my Slash won't fail again due to a gimbal failure. After a small jump (less than 1ft vertical) and landing in the grass, to my surprise the left rear…
