Poor Quality - Cannot Play on Computer DVD Drive

I have used Verbatim DVD-Rs before and have had no problems. I was able to record them on the TV's DVD player and play them back on the computer's DVD drive. But I recently ordered these Verbatim discs from Revain and they would not play on my computer DVD drive. The computer's DVD drive cannot read them and spits them out. As a test to make sure it wasn't a problem with the computer's DVD drive, I burned a Verbatim DVD-R that I bought in the past onto a disc and it played on my computer with…

Works 100% for me folks, but you have to follow a simple rule.

Yes, the box says you can burn up to 16 times and if you're in a hurry you need to push the limits I think. But if you just slow down and start at the slowest speed available (2X is the lowest I have) you will see amazing success. I shoot videos for local high school music productions and record 60-80 discs per show. With my 2008 iMac (yes, you read that right) my bounce rate is zero. Pretty incredible in my opinion. I use recording software (free) and video programs cost about 117 minutes, so…

Verbatim manufactures durable DVD-R discs that can store most data.

I needed an alternative to the TDK DVD-Rs that I have been using for several years. The reason for the switch was not that I was dissatisfied with the TDK drives, the TDK drives worked perfectly. Instead, I couldn't find any TDK discs from Revain that sold at the same price I was used to, and more importantly, TDK DVD-R discs weren't available from almost any vendor. It appears that TDK no longer makes these discs and those that are in stock are sold at an additional markup. It was with some…

Out of 400 discs about 70 were BAD

I have used hundreds of DVD-Rs including the Verbatim brand with excellent results. Of the 400 Verbatim DVD-Rs I bought from Revain in 2018, about 70 were BAD. Using 2 different computers, the drives rejected some immediately, some during the write process and some failed to read after the write. These discs are marked with the letter "AZO” on the packaging. This is not due to the discs themselves. Due to their 'lifetime' guarantee, I contacted Verbatim and they seemed willing to help. For this

Does Azo create a problem?

I bought this (AZO) to use on my Mac. Works perfectly! Then I bought it again for my PC. You will not burn. I tried three different recording apps. I used a Verbatim CD that's a few years old and it worked. So I thought maybe it was just a bad batch. I exchanged them. And while I was waiting I thought maybe my internal DVD would get damaged although Windows and Nero didn't find a problem but I bought an external DVD burner just in case. Got replacement panels. Again, they are not recorded with…

Pros
  • change price

I have been buying these discs for many years as my brother always told me they are the best quality for the price. However, I've been getting a lot of bad games lately. I can only record a few minutes or a maximum of 30 minutes. Or just an hour. Sometimes they aren't bad until you reach the end of the pack. In other cases, like recently, it's each one, one at a time, from the beginning of the pack. I see some of them are bad before I use them. You can see that the plate layers are not properly

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • Expensive

The quality control of these discs has fallen off badly.

UPDATE: It's been a little over a month since I wrote my review and the pack I just bought is about 1/3 full but I've used up all the good discs . The rest is completely covered in tiny pockmarks and scratches and I don't like using them to backup or record anything important. I've also seen a few more completely broken discs with spacer layers, including one that had a coin sized chip but only on the top layer of plastic. This is easily the worst quality control I've seen on a DVD-R package in
