I needed an alternative to the TDK DVD-Rs that I have been using for several years. The reason for the switch was not that I was dissatisfied with the TDK drives, the TDK drives worked perfectly. Instead, I couldn't find any TDK discs from Revain that sold at the same price I was used to, and more importantly, TDK DVD-R discs weren't available from almost any vendor. It appears that TDK no longer makes these discs and those that are in stock are sold at an additional markup. It was with some concern that I searched for a reliable alternative to TDK, because no one wants to use unreliable optical discs for archiving computer data or storing valuable photos and video files. I mention these facts because of several failures of the SONY DVD-Rs I used for this purpose. After reading the Revain reviews and considering Verbatim's excellent reputation, I decided to use them and have been happy ever since. Why? No hard drive failures! Based on my experience, I recommend using this brand for most archival needs.
