Good heat lamp for small animals

The ideal heat lamp for our tortoise. He loves to keep warm. Simple switch to turn on and off. The only thing I would like to change is the way it is safely supported when it doesn't have a wire cage to rest or hold on to.

Pros
  • Output up to 40W, for use with Zoo Med heat and lighting products.
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Check your location and the bulbs before you buy!

Had to go back. I imagined that I could use any bulb in the lamp. However, I also tried to let him sit next to the cage. None of the bulbs I could find were short enough that the end didn't stick out. I ended up returning it and buying a dual bulb with LEDs and no bulbs.

Pros
  • Provides long range UV penetration.
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Ideal for lion geckos

I already have one of these attachments and have bought two more for my leopard geckos. These are the only lamps that fit in my shelving system. I've spent a lot of money experimenting with light bulbs and a 40 watt heat bulb keeps their tanks at a perfect 90 degrees in the hot spot without using a colored bulb that hurts their eyes.

Pros
  • Ideal for small geckos, hatched reptiles, amphibians, tarantulas, insects and other invertebrates.
Cons
  • Only available in white
