UNIC Blockchain Academy, is a Department belonging to the University of Nicosia (UNIC), which is the largest private University in Cyprus. UNIC is considered the world's leading university in the field of digital currency and blockchain.
In 2014 UNIC had the vision to offer the first Master of Science in Digital Currency for students from all over the world virtually (online), to meet the high demand for Blockchain Education and academic and professional certification.
However, UNIC continued to grow academically to offer, in addition to this master's degree, The Master of Science in Computer Science, specialization in Blockchain technologies and the DFIN-511 course, which is offered for free as a MOOC (massive, open, online course).
In my opinion, the most important thing about DFIN-511 is the fact that it is taught by leading experts in the world of cryptocurrencies and Blockchain. The course is structured in twelve weekly live Q&A sessions and a final exam.
The course is extremely extensive and is designed for people entering the world of cryptocurrencies for the first time, no previous knowledge of cryptocurrencies or Blockchain technology is required, and no specialized knowledge in computer science, economics or finance is necessary. One of its important features, refers to the fact that it covers aspects such as the introduction to digital currencies, taking into account both a technical description of decentralized digital currencies and their economic, legal and financial context, you will also learn what they are, why they exist, why they are so important to improve financial services and much more.
DFIN-511 is divided into 12 MOOC sessions and starts, naturally, with a theoretical introduction to cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology. How the system works, how it is kept secure and what incentives are at play to keep it functional and growing. How transactions are conducted and how finances are acquired, stored and protected.
After the free course (MOOC), the next steps to advance knowledge are:
The Master of Science in Digital Currency which is designed to help business professionals, entrepreneurs, government officials and public administrators understand the technical fundamentals of cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology.
The Master of Science in Computer Science, which elevates students' knowledge in areas of computer science beyond the undergraduate level and exposes them to current and emerging trends.
The Blockchain Technologies specialization program that focuses on the fundamentals of digital currencies and the underlying blockchain technology. As well as, on programmable smart contracts and associated architectures such as Ethereum.
The latter have a cost in Euros, but can be paid in Bitcoin obtaining, if paid in this way, a discount on its final cost of 5% of the total.
