Not easy for a beginner

I bought this kit hoping I could solder a new battery to my failed 2006 second generation iPod shuffle. The price is right and the kit looks complete. Receive soldering instructions. Unless you have a very steady hand and an eagle eye for PCB soldering, don't waste your money.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Very good price

I used this to solder a new alternator spark plug to my Mustang. I only needed an iron for one job so I didn't want to spend any money. I can't believe I bought all of this for less than ten dollars. It worked great and came with everything I needed (iron, solder, connectors, wire strippers) and more. I'm an engineering student so it would be nice to have this kit if I plan to use it for a future project. I already have an Arduino kit and a Raspberry Pi so this is a pretty cool addition.

  • Dope 🔥

Damn good deal

Seriously considering the price and what you get I can't understand how they make a profit on this kit. I've only soldered with it one evening so far, but I'm writing this review because what comes in the kit allowed me to do the job I couldn't have done by simply ordering a soldering iron. First I used tweezers to pinch the wire which was in a tight spot, I used one of the heat shrink tubing and used a micro flat head screwdriver to gently bend the leg of the JFET. Not sure how long the iron…

Worked twice - big disappointment - UPDATE

I wanted to post an update as I think the company deserves it. They contacted me and sent a replacement soldering iron. Which is nice to hear. I didn't want a refund, just a working soldering iron. And this company is working hard to make it happen. So kudos to them. Only worked on two small jobs soldering a capacitor and an inductor. Also, I had to turn it on full blast just for it to melt the silver solder, which would have melted at the lowest temp with my old iron. My last soldering iron…

This kit did exactly what I needed at an unbeatable price

I've only had this Plusivo soldering iron kit for a few days and only used it for about an hour. I can say even if it doesn't work now, it would have already paid for itself ($12). I was able to replace a few capacitors in my flat screen TV, connect my laptop's webcam to a USB cable, and replace my headphones. Socket for two headphones. Got this because I need an iron with a smaller tip to fix my headphone jack. I will say that you should avoid running the iron at full temperature for a long…

The soldering iron is junk but other details make this kit worth the price.

For $10 there is a lot of value here. The soldering iron is junk and the tips are even worse, but for basic soldering work it's fine if you only need it for that. Even without a soldering iron, the kit costs $10. The heat shrink tubing is of fairly good quality, the desoldering pump works relatively well and the tweezers bend easily, but it's always nice to have an extra pair on hand. Yeah, duct tape isn't that bad either. It's not the stickiest, which is both a plus and a minus because it's…

  • Good product for the price

Use & Misuse: Iron

Okay, I'm not a professional PCB solderer, but I do know how to solder and what to look for when buying an adjustable soldering iron. You can't compare it to a soldering station, which is a completely different world when it comes to soldering. It retains warmth, heats up quickly and is stable over long distances. The dial is hard to read so I increase it in 1/16 inch increments and wait about 60 seconds between each adjustment before trying to see how it melts my solder before even proceeding…

Pros
  • Downloadable e-book with manual - contains general soldering information (ALWAYS check the specific product page for the items included in your kit). If the download is not possible, please contact the seller.
Cons
  • Only available in black

Comes with all parts needed for first electronic soldering repairs.

I'm not an electrician and to be honest I haven't used a soldering/piston set in years. After trying to borrow my dad's soldering iron, which just didn't get hot, I figured damn I'd just buy it. I only needed a soldering iron and heat shrink tubing for a little work. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just a regular person trying to solder a few wired things here and there and I'm not doing any big electrical projects or jobs in any way. For $8, this kit has everything I need. ! The kit
