Description of ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ Explore Canada's Salt and Freshwater with Garmin BlueChart g2 microSD Card

Realistic navigation features showing everything from shaded depth contours and coastlines to spot soundings, navaids, port plans, wrecks, obstructions, intertidal zones, restricted areas, IALA symbols and more. Smooth display presentation including seamless transitioning between zoom levels and more continuity across chart boundaries. Safety shading allows user to enable contour shading for all depth contours shallower than user-defined safe depth. Fishing charts to help scope out bottom contours and depth soundings with less visual clutter on the display. Choice of standard 2-D direct overhead or 3-D "over the bow" map perspective to make chart reading and orientation easier. Also compatible with Garmin's HomePort trip-planning software.

Canada Blue Chart could be better

I recently bought a Garmin Blue Chart g2 Vison card before traveling to Prince Louise Bay. Mixed results with map detail, some areas very good, others not so good. Some areas within the Gulf Canada Islands are not as detailed as most other areas and paper maps are required. Overall not bad but expected more from Garmin.

Pros
  • Car Electronics
Cons
  • I will add later

Great Maps

I have relied on Garmin Blue Chart G2 Maps for years and they have always been impressively accurate. Even narrow canals the size of kayaks in the British Columbia desert pass exactly as they appear on the ground, and clearly. Note that for a lot of money they have G2 "Vision" charts, which also provide 3D fly-by imagery, which is not needed for navigation but is quite impressive.

Pros
  • Marine Electronics
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Great data map I used with Garmin ECHOmap.

Excellent data chart I have used with a Garmin echoMAP 53DV chartplotter. Excellent coverage of Georgian Bay. With only a 17 foot whaler, I followed my friends through the shallows (to avoid open water routes) and then saved those routes to my Garmin device. After that, it was easy to follow the saved routes around the islets and channels. I do not recommend this card. /Data card is more for Georgian Bay. Note that this will not give you a 3D display.

Pros
  • Marine GPS Chartplotter
Cons
  • Damaged

Beautiful charts

I have relied on Garmin Blue Chart G2 charts for years and they have always been impressively accurate. Pros
  • Smooth display with smooth transitions between zoom levels and more continuous chart edges
