Ideal for Square Head Set Screws

I work on garage doors and the lift spring set screws are a 3/8" square head. Well, about 90% of them. Normally I would use a 7/16" 12 -Use a square socket, but after a while they wear out and it takes some effort to get them onto the set screw. This outlet has worked well so far. Hopefully it will last a lot longer than other sockets I've used in the past. If you work with garage doors, this is a good addition to your tool box.

Pros
  • Fit: Universal
Cons
  • No Automatic

I had a blown spark plug in 07 Torrent. The #5 screw extractor went a little deeper, but I couldn't drive it into the square end with anything. I messed up 3 12 point bits, broke a box wrench and even ripped out a Proto brand 8 point socket. This head fit the end of my hardened puller and I was FINALLY able to get the bad spark plug out. Literally the only thing that worked. For $7 and free 2-day shipping, it couldn't get any better!

So, as many of you know, I'm knee deep in a whole house remodeling project and this little tool has proved almost invaluable on my attic lift project. I live in a ranch style house that is undergoing a complete renovation. from the underground to the roof, everything in this house is being moved, changed, modernized, removed, replaced. This 3/8" head with 3/8" drive was used during my attic "elevator" project where I basically converted one of my attic hotspots into an attic/kitchen lift. I…
