Will not heat a 5 gallon tank above 71 degrees (in my experience)

I bought a 5 gallon Fluval (Fluval Spec V Aquarium Kit, 5 gallon) and the reviews say it's difficult to find a heater. which matches the design of the tank, but this heater has been offered on several occasions. I had the heater on for several days, it didn't work - the water temp was constantly 70 degrees or colder. I thought it was user error, I checked and the water was above the minimum water level line, took it out, no it's warm, yes it's completely inside out. I thought - maybe it's a…

Although I like the fact that this heater fits my height exactly.

While I love the fact that this heater fits my Fluval Spec V perfectly, I haven't had any luck with it. The first came with a broken bracket and missing the lower bumper, but as always, Revain have been great with returns and replacements. The second worked from January 20 to February 17. On the 17th I picked it up to raise the temperature and noticed that the tube was filled with water. I'm very glad I discovered this before the short happened and killed my fish, and I'm very glad I got rid of

Great compact heater with thermostat for my cock!

I bought this heater for my Betta to replace a previous one that was not keeping the water temperature stable. My rooster lives in a 7 gallon bubble bowl filtered with a Lustar foam filter. The compact size of this unit and the ability to regulate the water temperature was just what I needed and I was so pleased with the constant tropical warmth it provides. I have read many reviews of this heater, some of which have been inaccurate. People need to know two things about Marina Fluval's…

50 watts is not enough for a 5 gallon aquarium. UPDATE added

Choose a 5 gallon Marineland Portrait with good circulation. I chose the 50w size because it was recommended for aquariums up to 10 gallons. The 25 watts was recommended for up to 5 gallons and I wanted to make sure I wasn't over the limit of the heater. I turned the heater all the way on and it can handle a miserable 74 degrees in a 68 degree room. UPDATE July 2019: I broke the heater described above (my fault) and ordered another one (actually two as I will be installing another 5g aquarium…

Perfect fit for my 5 gallon Fluval Spec V

I was looking for a compact aquarium heater that would insert into the filter outlet of my Fluval Spec V (5 gallon) tank without being visible in the main body of the Tanks, but my choices were similar to the $22-$25 black plastic non-adjustable Fluval/Marina body, the $20 Hydor heater with no guard on the radiator, or the $28 EHEIM. If money wasn't an issue I would have gone with EHEIM for their great reviews and reputation, but I didn't want to spend that much so I chose this Fluval Marina…
