Melissa & Doug Tabletop Pick Up Storage Solution Review

They are quite large compared to the ones I used as a kid. Maybe that's a good thing now that my hands are bigger. I thought it would be nice to play a game that was physical in nature. This encourages conversation and kibitzing.

We are fortunate to have a play area with a table perfect for pick up sticks. This was always a favorite when we were visiting my grandma so it was great to see it still exists. And it's well made and still a lot of fun to play! Good choice!

What I like the most is the game where they have to use their wits, discover the strategy and all this without being connected to an electronic device to be. We need to bring back toys like this, interacting with others on the competitive field is paramount to maintaining a healthy state of mind. I highly recommend this product.

First of all, my kids like this game very much and would give it 5 stars. However, if you played as a kid, it probably isn't what you remember. The sticks are very slippery and roll too much making the game too easy. Even if you try to fold them across or play on the carpet, they still roll away from each other.

We tried to play with a 5 year old but these sticks are too polished and slippery and if dropped they all roll into each other and very little fit, play. In my opinion, they are too prickly for small children. I would suggest making the sticks rough or less polished and a little less sharp.

I'm usually a fan of Melissa and Doug's kids toys. They are generally well made and well suited for children. These Gripsticks are the exception! I returned them. These sticks were too big, too smooth and shiny. When thrown during play, they rolled off each other and became a layer of sticks on the ground. They are the perfect size and colour. The uniform is a little different than what I remember from my youth. Transparent coating reduces playing comfort. They slip easily making it impossible to play unless you are playing on carpet. The wood makes the sticks tough. There is no flex like there would be if it were made of plastic. When trying to set up the game, they bounce like drumsticks, even off a 4-inch table. Suitable for playing on carpet or outdoors. Bad for tables and hard surfaces.
