The shapes of the details do not look like letters but are amorphous drops.

I wanted the puzzle pieces to be letters so she could learn the shapes. But that's not the case. Instead, there is an amorphous hole and inside it is an object that starts with a letter (jump rope in hole J, house in hole H, strange X-ray of bones in hole X, etc.). So the child is supposed to know what letter these things start with or what order the alphabet is in and counting. My child does not (2 years, 3 months). So she is playing with a bit frustrating puzzle due to the ambiguous shapes…

Not my favorite by Melissa & Doug

I didn't like it. My kids didn't like it! I love Melissa and Doug, but for me it had a lot of downsides. I hate writing negative reviews for this company because 99% of the time I love them. They have pictures for the alphabet instead of showing the actual letter. I found this difficult because my youngest is two years old and understands the concept of image matching. Second are the images used - for example the image used for V is a vine. Now tell me how many toddlers know the word "vine" or…

Funny, but some pictures are funny

My 3 year old daughter loves this puzzle! At first she only knew a few letters, but we do it together once a week (while her older brother does gymnastics) and now she knows almost all the letters! I really wish they had chosen different images for some of the emails. She says I'm a bug to an insect. It would be better to use ice instead. The D for a duck looks like a white swan, so it's a bit confusing. And why on earth did they use Q for quail and not queens? My 3 year old doesn't know what a

Pros

Great, but I suggest the no-pins option if your budget allows.

This is a great puzzle game and you can't beat the price. But honestly I wish I had chosen a more expensive one that doesn't have pins in the parts. Firstly, the pins can be quite difficult for small toddlers to use - it is difficult for them to put the pieces back in place as they rotate a bit when trying to put them down. Yes this means they are working on their motor skills by playing with it but I bought this to help my son learn the alphabet, he has many other toys to help with his motor…
