Purchased to replace the remote control supplied with the amplifier. This one is much larger, with easily swappable batteries.

Some time ago I bought an SMSL repeater. SMSL Q5 Pro Component Audio Amplifier (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017W12UCU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_CCLzoroD2xjfHI It came with a small, really awful controller that used a cellular battery. This one is much better and more responsive. Worked out of the box

I really like my SMSL amp but the remote control was terrible. It is very difficult to remove the battery and even the hearing aid battery. The new remote control is MUCH better built, durable and uses standard AAA batteries. BTW, the review saying it doesn't work is probably because you can accidentally turn it off with the ABC keys. You press the right button and everything works.

I bought this to replace the unit that came with my SMSL Amplifier because the service kept stopping and you had to remove and replace the batteries to get it back to get it running. Guess what? Yes, same problem with the new one! This is a design flaw in the scheme of the gear itself. Nice amp but crappy remote that will annoy you every day. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
