Excellent plastic case, does not protect against falls. This case protects your system from scratches and dents, and the case pops out in the event of a big drop. I only play when I'm at home. The only thing that really worries me is the power button cutout. The button is just enough under the plastic to confuse you when powering up the system. One thing is for sure, if you have a favorite bezel on your 3Ds, use this case for both protection and display.

I bought this case for my new 3DS Pokemon Edition which is a regular New Nintendo 3DS not XL. It fits perfectly and slips on overlays for those of you who are interested. I buy my cases mainly to protect against scratches so I don't know how good it will be with drops as the case can be easily removed. But in any case it fits perfectly, is easy to put on and does not interfere with the game. If you're thinking of getting it, do it, it's worth it.

Given the limited availability of clear cases for the new 3DS model (2015), this was my only reasonable option. A great product that every DS collector or avid gamer should need! Personally, I really needed a clear case for my "NEW" 3DS as the standard size gives owners the ability to switch faceplates! If I had received an opaque case I would not have been able to see the bezels! Not only did this case protect my 3DS from harmful scratches, but it also gave me a chance to see every faceplate I put on my 3DS! The biggest issue I had with this case is that it barely fits my "new 3DS" on both the bottom and the can be attached to the top plate. Whenever I open the 3DS from the closed position, I can feel and see the bottom and top of the case lift slightly away from the 3DS. That doesn't inspire much confidence in the protection this case can offer. I had a TPU case before I bought it. It turned yellowish so I didn't like it! I was worried about the TNP case scratching my 3ds, but it doesn't sound like a hard click and I had no trouble installing them. Pretty nice shell turned out. It's a bit thicker than I expected, but way too thick - and protective of course! Every detail has access cutouts - volume and 3D sliders, camera cutouts, pen slot, etc. The cutouts range from form-fitting to slightly more roomy, but they don't reveal so much that you need to worry about them.
