Works as advertised

I have installed several stereo systems in my time and know the importance of having the right kit to complete the installation. This scosche kit does the job well. I installed it on a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. The real key to this is the correct installation of the head unit trim ring. Make sure you use the trim tabs to hold it in place. The biggest single fault with them is the installer's failure to do this (if you don't, the radio will slip or fall out of the dash). Once properly installed, it's pretty durable. For a better feel and also because I will be driving my truck down the Alaska Highway I used cardboard to fill the gap between the bag and the stereo (dual tape) to keep the radio from moving in the mount. After connecting and everything else, the kit screwed onto my truck without any problems. Great fit. It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look good either. Not cheap, but not a luxury either. It is enough in all respects to install a non-standard main unit. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, go for an aftermarket double din head unit. I didn't need any of the included gaskets or screws for my application. Spacers are included if your application requires them. Total installation time for this part was approximately 5 minutes.
