Because my daughter had recently conducted a crystal growth demonstration for her "Kindergarten Scientist" presentation, my kids and I happened to be fairly well prepared for the steps involved in using this kit. The fox is definitely tiny, but if you look at the dimensions of the kit itself you can see that it won't accommodate much larger. My kids had fun making this Crystal craft. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I love that these kits always have precut or premade parts.

you and your child must have a lot of patience to complete this project. It's cool. But it does take a while and you have to be able to follow the detailed instructions

I'm kind of over these sets where you have to provide crucial requirements to use them. It's frustrating for children and irritating for adults. You will need two large glass jars. How hard would it have been to include them and raise the price a little? You don't get much in the set. There are probably homemade recipes online that are more exciting than this lackluster set.

I got this for my niece, something for the 10 year old to do while school is out. My sister said she enjoyed helping her with it, but it was not a simple project. Like most kids they want instant results and this does not give you that. Also the instructions, while in depth, was a bit much to comprehend. Maybe be better for an older child to do.

My six year old loved making this. She needed help mixing the chemicals (the temperature of the water needs to be right or the powder won't dissolve). You cut and shape the pipe cleaners for tails and ears, dip into the solutions once each. I'd put the fox right side up in the solution if I did it again.the crystals got smushed on the ear being upside down.I does not teach much about crystals or chemistry. It's just a fun project. I have to say the Fox itself is much smaller than I expected out of the box. Everything else in the kit is fine; the crystal mix solution, pipe cleaners (what the solution will stick to for the crystals to grow), and instructions. There's plenty of crystal mix in the bag for more than one experiment, so you could certainly replace the pipe cleaners and use it again.

We bought a few of these, but ended up not finishing them. They do not come with everything that you need. You need to have jars and other items. Then you cannot finish in one day, you do one part and then wait for the next day to do the other. My kids and really me too, we dont have patience for that.

This kit is of good quality like we expect from Klutz. Clear instructions and good materials make for high fun, low frustration play time.

this was a lot more involved then i anticipated. had a lot of fun with the kids seeing the changes and learning about crystals, though. i will say go through it all and plan out times/evenings for doing this, it was overwhelming with 3 excited little girls and trying to read the instructions with boiling water next to me. haha. recommended!

I am sure it was user error. It was fun and something to do with my kids. That's always a winner. It didn't turn out though. Nothing grew. It was kinda a bumer.
