Even better than the original

I had no idea this type of product even existed. I used pliers to get the broken probe out which was very tough. This product is even better than the original and worth the price.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Safety

This is a direct and correct replacement.

This is a direct and correct replacement for the dipstick in my wife's 2001 Audi TT 1.8l. The stamping in the oil level area is a bit uneven and light, but otherwise it is the correct configuration and length.

Pros
  • Wow
Cons
  • Band

Poor quality engine parts

Poor quality, made from regular steel, not the spring steel that originally came with the car. The steel it is made of is very soft and will not withstand proper installation in an engine without permanent deformation, making actual level measurement highly questionable.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Modern

Perfect for the original dipstick that is cracked etc.

Not sure why VW/Audi chose plastic parts for the tube and dipstick but we got it. This is a great dipstick replacement when your 10 year old VW/Audi A4 chassis is starting to lose plastic parts. This version looks and behaves exactly like the original.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Very good replacement OEM

In 2013 the OEM dipstick in my 2003 VW GTI broke - the plastic was becoming brittle. This replacement is the same length and fits well. My only complaint is that it dangles a bit in the mount at the top end. I don't think there's a significant air leak, but it's not as tight as the OEM model.

Pros
  • High test results for grip and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

Not very good - freely enters the oil tube

Bought to replace a cracked OE dipstick. This Dorman dipstick looks great when you take it out of the box. it is the right length and the oil level marks are in the right place. The problems start when it is inserted into the engine. The part that is inside the dipstick tube is too small in diameter. The probe dangles. I've added a video showing the amount of free ride, although it was a little difficult to capture effectively. This probe is not stuck. Maybe you have better luck. But if you're…

Pros
  • Ok!
Cons
  • Expensive
