Review on ๐Ÿ” Dorman 917-350 Oil Level Dip Stick: Ensuring Precise Oil Measurements and Optimal Engine Performance by Charlie Dillon

Not very good - freely enters the oil tube

Bought to replace a cracked OE dipstick. This Dorman dipstick looks great when you take it out of the box. it is the right length and the oil level marks are in the right place. The problems start when it is inserted into the engine. The part that is inside the dipstick tube is too small in diameter. The probe dangles. I've added a video showing the amount of free ride, although it was a little difficult to capture effectively. This probe is not stuck. Maybe you have better luck. But if you're willing to risk that thing popping out and pouring oil over the top of your engine, bet on it. Otherwise buy OE. It's P/N 06A115611B and you can get it from VW/Audi for less than $25. You might consider getting a dipstick tube while you're there. It's P/N 06A103663B and costs less than $10 from Audi.
