Easily modified to replace an old van light

This is almost perfect for replacing a 2008 Tiffin door light in a camper van. The lens has jumped out of the original mount and cannot be replaced. This light required some modifications so that the cord exiting the light is on the right side of the lamp, while the original lamp cord exits on the left. Useless in lighting

This light did not come with the 1156 bulb but did come with some dimmer. So weak it's almost useless. Replacing the bulb with a real 1156 bulb (2 for $20) makes the light acceptable. This is listed as a porch light which should weatherproof it, which it isn't. The rear metal plate snaps into the case leaving gaps around the entire outer edge. A gasket is not supplied to prevent water from entering the fixture or structure. The wires exit the back panel through a 90 degree grommet that…

The switch is not waterproof and will fail after a short time outdoors.

I have installed several of these lights on our Outback RV. The lantern is mounted on the front of the trailer and appears to have been caught in a large amount of water running off the truck's wheels. They don't even last a full season. I just ordered another one but this time I ordered a waterproof switch which I have to drill and solder into the lantern. I also ordered a step drill for drilling over 1/2" holes. These jigs would be easy to install if you didn't have to remove the putty and…
