Great little camera

First, let me say that I am an experienced photographer. I've worked with basic cameras to widescreen cameras. I bought this for my daughter. It's just an amazing little camera. The lens is super fast, the focus is pretty damn good and the image quality is amazing. Depending on what you're looking for, this camera could be the one for you.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Non-automatic

Truly the best photo experience

I've had other Nikons before. This is the most complex with so many features and possibilities. I bought the DUMMIES book to find out. Loading film and shooting with my Nikon FG film camera is like going from driving a Ford to a Jet 747. The transition takes more learning but so far the results are worth it and will be worth the switch . Right now the photos are better focused and I have better control over the whole process. I like it! If you really want to get more out of your photography…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Bad instructions

Did some research on this. If you don't need a "feature" of the D5500, D7200 or D7500, this camera is a no-brainer. Has the same image processing chip and lens as others, so the image is 100% the same. This camera with a better lens produces much better images than a D7500 with a standard lens. In my opinion, this is also a set of fixed focal lengths. A single 40mm or 50mm prime is MUCH better than the 18-55mm crap it comes with. WAY x 10. No matter how good the zoom, the better the picture…

10/11 I like this camera

As I know a lot of people are probably asking how good this camera is, let me be clear this camera is amazing. I have shot with many different cameras over the years that I have been shooting and this is one of the best. Of course it won't compete with cameras like the D850 or 5D Mk iv, but you can still take great photos with this camera. 2560024.3 MP sensor Incredibly sharp still shots No, this camera doesn't have the everyday conveniences of a touchscreen and tilting LCD, but it's…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Great entry-level camera that I may never upgrade.

I'm new to SLR cameras. This is really my first "big" camera and I don't know if I'll ever need an upgrade. I mainly use this for various activities that my school hosts (sports, theatre, congresses, etc.). It has just enough "automatic" features to help you gradually become familiar with photography and basic camera functions. I've read a few articles on how and what the best lenses would be but they're not really necessary, you can really just open this up and start taking sharp pictures (I…

Pros
  • Rugged construction

  • Interval

Amazing value for money

The Nikon D3400 with the new AF-P 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses is unbeatable at its current price ($500). The body of the D3400 is compact and lightweight for a DSLR. The 18-55mm lens is what you'd expect from a kit lens, and it features VR (vibration reduction, Nikon's version of image stabilization). The 70-300mm is great when you need more range and fast focusing. Nikon sells a VR-capable version of the 70-300mm lens, but includes a non-VR version in this kit. This is disappointing as the…

SNAPBRIDGE IS BROKEN, PLEASE FIX

EDIT: Snapbridge functionality was fixed after the last iOS update, but it didn't work for 2 months between updates. Incredibly frustrating, but I don't think Nikon ever intended to fix this themselves. So get ready - it may stop working with the next iOS update. Rating updated from 2 out of 5 to 5 out of 5. That's right, so the camera itself is 5/5, don't get me wrong. If you're trying to shoot with a DSLR like I did when I bought it a while ago, this is a great camera for beginners. I can't…

Pros
  • Very impressive

  • Slightly dented

Don't listen to negative reviews, these people don't know.

This is a fantastic entry-level DSLR. I've had mine for almost a year now and wanted to get a lot out of it before writing a review. First, a lot of people say the D3400 is a "degradation" of the D3300, and they have no idea what they're talking about. One of their claims is a weaker flash. As you learn more about photography, you will realize that the built-in camera flash is rubbish ON ANY CAMERA and is not desirable for good quality photos and portraits anyway. And it's also not true that…
