Nutone, can't you upgrade your heating elements?

I have been using a Nutone heater/light/fan for about 10 years. I just ordered my 7th or 8th item for about $30 each. First Nutone replaced 1 or 2 items. The item looks good. I think the resistance is probably bad. We try not to use the heater for more than 15 minutes at a time and it still doesn't last more than a winter. If I didn't have to disassemble the unit to replace it and fix the drywall, I would buy a different brand. What a headache. Nutone, could you make a better replacement part?

  • Pleasant to use

Third time charm?

In our bonnet/light/heater blower unit the heater element has failed for the third time in 4 years! About a week ago, when it smelled like burning, we opened the vents, cleaned the dust, and had it up and running again within three days with no problems. The smell came back a day ago and the heating element stopped working! When we buy a new part, we invest about $150 in replacement parts. We bite the bullet and buy a brand new, more expensive brand of bathroom exhaust/heater unit. and hope it…

should have known better or designed this unit to thermal kill.

I have changed this device at least twice. Most of the time this device died it was being used by another member of my family. Luckily, the third time is the charm. It died while I was using it. This unit has stopped working due to a blown thermal switch. It explodes due to an electric shock. The next time you replace it, you should also install a surge protector. Nutone should have known better or designed this unit so that the thermal switch could be replaced. Hope that helps. Updated…

Easy installation but does not require full item

UPDATE: Blown out after 9 months. I opened the fan, inside it's sparkling clean. So no, it's not clogged with dust which, as you might expect, could set it on fire. It's just an inferior piece. Okay I give this part 5 stars for knowing. If it blows up in a few months, I'll be back. Installing the old part and inserting it is very easy. Only 4 screws. The problem is that we don't need the entire heating element. Well, maybe some of you know, but all I needed was a thermal fuse. This is a…

This heating element is rubbish and will not last long

I am on replacement #3, last purchased September 2016, this replacement heating element is either a design or manufacturing fault and could short out and the occurrence of a fire. This time the main heater power cord was blown off the plug and floated free and the black and white wires they were tied to melted the insulation to bare wires (see photo). It is evident that the wires have become very hot due to current leakage and should be fitted with a high temperature sheath rather than a…

But can easily be exchanged.

So this is our third replacement with even shorter service intervals. The heating element feels real and real, and it's not the wire that's burning. In all cases, thermal fuse 110C worked. It cannot be reset, and the fuse itself is difficult to replace. I read something else, and a blog post explained that a blown fuse is just a symptom, not the cause. It seems logical that if the fan motor fails over time, the airflow will decrease and eventually the temperature measured on the fuse will also…
