Very good sound and performance

I have had an Olympus Pearlcorder S713 for a few years. It has many features that are hard to find in newer recorders. It features a red LED to indicate recording, a 3-digit tape counter, external headphone and microphone jacks, and an automatic end-of-tape stop. Also features double speed recording and voice control recording. I don't hear any tape noise when using the internal microphone. The only limitation is the microcassette. But still the sound quality is good, even for recording a bit…

Short term success

I have about 60 20 year old cassettes that I wanted to take apart and decide what to keep. They contained songs recorded live, many of which were never released. The recorder was good value, arrived quickly and appeared to be in great condition. After listening to one cassette for about 30 minutes, I put on the next one but there was no sound. I immediately put in the 1st cassette and THIS one had no sound. Frustrated, I left it for a few days thinking I wasted my money. On day 3 I tried again…

Best Micro Cassette Recorder I've Ever Seen

I've owned half a dozen micro cassette players over the last few years and the S713 is the best I've used to date. The playback quality is excellent (for voice recordings). Very clearly. There is no discernible tape hiss from electronic components (which is a real problem with tape decks in general). The recorder has a large speaker with a large volume range. In fact, it's so loud that I usually skip it most of the time. This makes the S713 great for playing sheet music and the like in noisy…
