Sphero is a HIT! in my review

Both kids my 5yo & 11yo have really enjoyed it. It's really a fun item and learning to code with the coding blocks makes it easily understandable.great item if you want to get your kids interested in simple coding & robotics

Pros
  • The app-enabled robot ball is designed for all ages, so even adults can join in the fun of coding and programming the Sphero Mini
Cons
  • May not appeal to children with different learning styles

Our cat LOVES this gizmo.

.my only complaint would be battery life. Maybe ours is a freak, but it dies awfully quickly on each charge. maybe 10-15 minutes or so. Who knows, maybe that is a Blessing. Good luck!

Pros
  • Parents can join in the fun, using the Sphero Mini to spend quality time with their children and teach them new skills together
Cons
  • May not be as engaging for children who prefer hands-on learning

The cats love chasing it!

I bought the mini for the sole purpose of messing with the cats. It is about the size of a ping pong ball and the cats are very familiar with those. The cats aren't trying to murder it, but they do love to chase it. The Mini kind of freaks them out when it chases them back. they leap straight up in the air!

Pros
  • And lastly, the Sphero Mini can be used to create new games and activities, as well as to customize and personalize with coding skills, making it an innovative and inventive toy
Cons
  • Limited opportunities for self-directed exploration and play

Neat little toy! - my new review

Gave this to my 13 yo for Christmas. He was excited about it for about a day and has barely touched it since. His younger siblings find it much more interesting but they aren’t sure how to make it do much. It does exactly what it says it does though and it seems quite sturdy.

Pros
  • The Sphero Mini can work in conjunction with various smartphone and tablet devices, making it easy to connect and use
Cons
  • Limited opportunity for experimentation with programming concepts

Such a fun toy and learning to code is great!

* You will need either a tablet or phone to work it.My sons, 10 and 11, got this for Christmas. You download the app on your phone or tablet and there are games to play with it and some coding. There are mulitple ways in which you use it. You can use the app to move the ball just by using a "joystick" feature on the phone (you do not need an actual joystick, it's on the app) or you can use the ball as the joystick while playing games on the phone. Then there is coding on the phone which moves…

Pros
  • Toys & Games
Cons
  • May require regular updates to function properly

My dog and cat love this thing

I chase my dog and cat with this, they chase it back, we have a good time for 20 or 30 min as long as the dog doesn't try to pick it up. I am pretty sure that even the cocker spaniel could bite right through the solid plastic shell. Also, every time they bat it or kick it I have to fix the orientation. I am not very quick at this and recognizing it has happened and so it is not big issue. Still, the lazer pointer is much easier but not nearly as fun. This is a fun toy that was well worth the…

My cat loves this - my new review

My cat doesn't like toys that are stationary because it bores him. This is perfect for him because we can make it more challenging for him. He played with this immediately and still plays with it even without anyone controlling it. We're planning to program the ball to move at a pattern so that we can leave it running while we're working.

Pros
  • It's a safe and fun alternative to traditional toys that can help inspire children's imagination and curiosity
Cons
  • May not hold up to long-term use

Neat little thing good for me

Kid Christmas present. They have these at her school and she wanted one for home. It's super cute and works well. Seems durable too.

Pros
  • It's an excellent tool for enhancing problem-solving and reasoning abilities in children
Cons
  • Limited opportunity for physical activity or exercise

Great introduction to robotics

Sphero Mini is an excellent product to introduce kids to robotics. You have several ways to interact with it on your mobile app.Price/Value is also great. I'll be looking forward to get the Sphero Bolt to keep teaching my kids and explore the possibility of developing a career as STEM teacher. Great work!

Pros
  • March 6, 2020
Cons
  • Not waterproof or durable in harsh weather

Seemed fun.until. best in my review

I got this to play with the cats. Seemed like a good idea at the time. However, it kept losing it's bluetooth connection. The only way to get it connected again was to plug it in to charge. It would work for a few minutes and lose connection again. Perhaps mine is defective, but who knows.

Pros
  • This toy can be used by both boys and girls, making it a gender-neutral toy that appeals to all children
Cons
  • Limited opportunity for creative expression beyond coding concepts

Great value and great toy

I did a talk and demo for some 7yo girls about robotics. The girls name the Sphero Rovey (haha they were adorable) and I think it was very engaging. The app is very top notch and very conducive to learning how to program- there are stages suitable for a wide-range of kids’ ages and abilities. The actually robot is a little difficult to align (kind of like calibrate), so it’s repeatability on an obstacle course wasn’t super, but the girls loved it and didn’t notice.Great toy. So much fun. Great…

Pros
  • The Sphero Mini can be programmed to follow different commands and behaviors, so children can explore different areas of robotics
Cons
  • May become repetitive quickly without new challenges or activities

6 Year old loves it

My 6 year old takes coding online through school, but in her free time she's loving her mini sphero robot, knocking pins down around the room while driving it around the cones.ConWhen picked up the balls "foward" and "backwards" seems to turn themselves around.Highly recommended anyways

Pros
  • This is a great toy, but it's way smaller than what I thought...I guess it was my fault.
Cons
  • Not suitable for younger children

Fantastic steam fidget.

this little ball is one of the best little programming toys and fidget I have ever spent money on. their apps is great, the community has tons of fun programs to download and it has a great tool to teach Jave code. IT is also one of the few things that can get my extremely ADD autistic nephew focused and help him burn off energy. I just wish they were easy to come by or cheaper so I could give them to local teachers as steam kits. buy 2 one for yourself and the other for your kind you will…

Pros
  • It's a fun way to introduce kids to robotics and technology that will help them develop valuable STEM skills
Cons
  • Limited feedback or response from the robot ball

It’s smaller than your hand

I don’t like that’s it very very small but it is a great gift for little kids over 7 and it’s also a fun little robot that kids will definitely enjoy!

Pros
  • 8 years and up
Cons
  • Not suitable for outdoor play
