Cheap and light, but also full of junk.

It looks good and can be economical for travel and use with lightweight cameras, but the quality is worth the price you pay. This tripod is very flimsy, the valves are leaking oil, the chunky ball joint and spirit levels have literally dried up after a few weeks of ownership. There are really few benefits other than form factor and weight, but if you're serious about traveling with this thing, it just isn't strong enough for it. It was barely strong enough to stand on a shelf and not break on…

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • Big and bulky

I needed a sturdy tripod, but I didn't want to spend $300 or so.

Needed a sturdy tripod but didn't want to spend around $300 for a really high quality tripod. This served its purpose very well for my trip to Iceland. It's not too bulky, the easy and quick camera mount is perfect for chilly nights when gloved hands are trying to capture the Northern Lights. While the lightness is professional for the most part, I have to admit that it didn't withstand as much wind as I had hoped, but other than that it was perfect and helped me capture once-in-a-lifetime…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • No mold required

Large travel tripod

This is a great tripod. It took several others before I found this one. The weight is perfect for my travel pack. I mean, the ideal 2.3 pounds is superior to the 3.12 pounds I wanted to carry around. It has a single locking ball head which is a bit tricky but they added planes on 2 axes which makes it really easy. Anyone who has ever fiddled with a single lock ball head knows what I'm talking about. The legs flex a bit but I love this tripod and have added a hook under the center column to hang

Pros
  • Single locking ball head
Cons
  • Shorter cable than other picks

Gave SLIK a chance, wasn't disappointed!

A few years ago, SLIK Tripods attended an event in Malibu and gave me a free t-shirt. I've been wearing it for years even though I don't own any of their products. I have always used Manfrotto, but over time using Manfrotto became very painful. One of the legs was incredibly difficult to bend, the legs folded inward when the tripod was raised, pinching my fingers, and even the tilt lock knob came loose. It's time to try something different and I'm so glad I gave SLIK a try. The SLIK Sprint Pro…

Pros
  • Case included
Cons
  • Available in black only

Is the SLIK Sprint 150 the perfect tripod? No (but close). Is it bloody expensive for what you get? Yes. Pros: • Flip-lock legs with enough rigidity to open and close. Twist lock design sucks. • The legs slide out very quickly and easily. • Retractable leg angle design - this design is better than many others - it should be standard. • Very strong with minimal flex. • Slanted legs provide stability on the floor. • Lightweight, especially considering its height. • Flat knobs on center post and…

Pros
  • Divided center column, spirit level
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
