Review on Acer XR382CQK Bmijqphuzx: The Ultimate 37.5" Curved Screen with Response Technology, 3840X1600P, and 75Hz by Jesse Costello

The best 38 " 21:9 monitor so far

Very happy with this purchase. While doing extensive research on 21:9 screens, I was torn between going for a slightly smaller screen (z and Dell variants). ). I realized pretty quickly that this is actually the same panel as LG's, and while it's not exactly slim (LG has a bezel-less display), it has all the same connectivity options (USB-C is paramount to me ). new MacBook Pro) 75Hz across the board (i.e. not just on Freesync via Display Port) and a MUCH better stand and screen adjustment mechanism. First of all, the stand is all metal and very heavy. Debt, and the adjustment mechanism is so smooth it's an amazing feat of engineering. I've heard reports that the LG wobbles a lot when typing on a desk as it's a single plastic stand - with a screen this big, this isn't a good idea unless you build in a solid adjustment mechanism. Luckily Acer did that. From LG's end, it smells cheap and style to me, not content. Especially since almost €400 more LG for the same panel is simply not worth it. Next I bought a model with 1ms HDR support that was released in November 2017. Please check your details as it is difficult to see these small pieces of information. It cost $1,099 instead of $1,039 for the 4ms non-HDR variant. Prices will of course change, so don't base your purchase on that, but I suggest paying attention to these specs so you can get the latest model right away. Of course, the screen's brightness is only around 500 nits, so technically that's not enough "enough" according to the guidelines, which require 1000 nits for proper HDR. However, it does a pretty good job of contrasting the experience, especially in the games I tested (Destiny 2 and PUBG). Also, the panel itself is excellent. I switched to this with an iMac 5K, so the sharpness fades a little when I'm editing photos and just for general viewing; You'll know if you come from the same background as me, but I have no regrets. The 21:9 ratio knocks it out of the park for editing, overall performance and gaming, and I wouldn't go back to 16:9 for any of the above given the choice. 75Hz was the minimum I wanted for the few games I make on the panel and I have to say it's really very good, more than "acceptable", although I understand gamers won't be happy. Re: The picture quality is very, very good. Saturated colors, excellent contrast and sharpness (at 3800 x 1600 that's always been good for movies) and very little flare. No matter what anyone says, any IPS panel will suffer from glare to some degree; However, I'm very picky about this (I've returned MANY TVs due to light loss) and I have to say it's very minimal and definitely life-saving. Unless you see a faint hint of it in the corners of a black screen, you won't notice it unless the screen turns on. After that it is no longer noticeable. On the downside, it's expensive, but all 21:9 monitors are like that, and it's still almost 30% smaller than LG (which is actually the same monitor), so I have no regrets. It doesn't have the same bezel-less display, but that's the only noticeable difference. So the build quality is exceptional (MUCH better than LG), the stand is a feat of engineering (I still don't know how they make the TV tilt in all directions and especially move up/down with a light touch of the hand while they hold it The perfect position and the picture quality is also fantastic What's not to like!?
