Review on BenQ BL2420PT 23.8" Widescreen DisplayPort Monitor - 2560X1440 Resolution, IPS Panel, Built-In Speakers, USB Hub by Keon Houston

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Slight display defect, inconsistent factory calibration

I ordered two models of this model for a dual screen setup. I chose this brand and model after a long search for a reasonably priced monitor that does a good job of reproducing accurate colors as I create digital images and want to start selling prints that match the original. I'm not an expert in evaluating image quality, but I noticed two issues that were unexpected given the targeted marketing of this monitor: 1) One of the monitors has a sort of hairline crack on the edge of the screen, almost like an eyelash. below the surface (see photos and videos). 2) There is a noticeable difference in color temperature between the two monitors when installed straight out of the box (see photo). I understand that I can (and should) do my own calibration to match the two monitors, but I'm not sure what the point of marketing is for each monitor to be pre-calibrated at the factory if it's two monitors at a time ordered. times are different. I assumed that was the selling point. Am I misinterpreting this? My guess is that every monitor comes with a factory calibration printout that shows little difference between the two. But what's the point if they're inherently incompatible? The third minor inconvenience is that one of the monitors sometimes emits a high-pitched hum when turned on. It seems to go away after you manually turn the monitor off and on again. I don't think this will affect my rating as it's not a core feature or selling point, but if this sort of thing makes you easily annoyed, keep that in mind. On the plus side, the rest of each screen seems good based on a thorough inspection checklist. Ease of use is good, with better screen controls than I've seen on other monitors. The inputs have everything I need and are well placed, which again isn't always found on other monitors. I'm not a gamer (and this isn't a gaming monitor) so I can't comment on motion and frame rate performance. After all, the color difference is fixable and I can live with a barely noticeable defect on the screen. edge of screen. Seemed too hassle to return an item for these items. But it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth as I bought what looked like "professional" technology and not a budget monitor. It would be hard to recommend this monitor to anyone else in the future.
