Description of Master Magnetics LM 20BX2 Industrial Mounting

Magnet holds 20 pounds on contact with 1/4" thick, flat, smooth ferrous plate in a vertical test, 50% less on vertical surface holding against sliding force and less on steel with paint. Includes 2 each 0.250" diameter mounting holes 2.50" from hole center to hole center. Magnet assembly made of steel with all-welded construction, ceramic, ferrite magnets and red paint finish. For indoors and outdoors applications at temperatures between -10 degrees and 200 degrees Fahrenheit.

Key Part Missing

Metal Strike Plate is NOT included, it's just a magnet. Seems like a pretty stupid place to cut. Without the metal part, it's useless if you intend to use it for its intended purpose - to hold a door or cabinet closed.

strong magnets

Good strong magnets. I can't separate them directly when they're pressed face to face against each other. If I twist or articulate them in any way, they are easy to separate. I was looking at another power set and thought they came with plates but they aren't advertised here so you'll have to make your own. No problem.

I used this item to hook a vertical wire mesh gate post. There was no separate plate to attach to the magnet, only the stand itself (which seemed quite sensitive to the magnet). The longitudinal direction of the magnet was perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the post (post diameter was 1.5 inches). This means that the alignment is gentle (e.g. if the gate moves slightly). The magnet gripped well enough (barely) but to do it again I would use the 50lb version of this product. Placing…
