Cheap hardware

I love that it rotates but I've been using it for about 3 hours and the dowel came loose from the base. I'll glue it back to wood, but the hardware to connect the base to the dowel isn't very heavy. Otherwise I would have gotten five stars because I have to fix it myself. Honestly I think it's overpriced considering it broke so quickly.

Pros
  • Spindle length 7" Overall length including base 8.5"
Cons
  • Crumpled

Very hard complex spin

Took it out and put it back together but it didn't spin much. In my opinion it would have just been stopped instead of being spun with the yarn on the spindle so it went straight into the box for a refund. What a disappointment - I love the Knit Picks stuff in general. Your yarn is amazing and this item was beautiful to look at. What a disappointment that the feature just doesn't exist.

Pros
  • Keep your yarn neat and tidy with this solid wood spindle
Cons
  • Only available in black

Good idea, bad execution

Sorry I was in a hurry. I unpacked it, paid attention to the fit of the two parts (base and spindle are packed disassembled in the shipping carton) and then sent the shipping carton for recycling. When I later reassembled it for use, the slightest tug on my yarn knocked the spindle out of its base. Since I didn't have the original packaging I decided to glue them down with marine epoxy. It works so far, but I'm not sure how long it will last. Don't be seduced by shiny dark wood. Buy reliable…

Pros
  • Easily holds two 100g cakes (cake not included)
Cons
  • So far so good
