This is the lightest tree stand I have ever used. It was so easy that my daughter and I were able to do it ourselves without my husband's help. My only complaint is that there should be a drain plug at the bottom with a lid that seals the entire bottom (like a lid on a mixing bowl; simple) in case it leaks. We had this tree stand for 2 Christmas holidays and it is AMAZING. Here's why: 1. Ease of use. No "hold the tree while I tighten the bolts" or "it's crooked, we need to reset it". 1 person holds it and the 2nd person just pushes the lever to tighten the claws until the bell rings. 2. Overall this is a great tree stand. I've tried several over the years and this is by far the easiest and safest I've ever used. I currently have a tree that is 11 1/2 feet tall with a trunk about 5 1/2 inches in diameter. I think the only way to make it stronger is if it has roots. A few things to keep in mind: 1. I bought this stand last year and am very impressed with it. Easy to set up, holds plenty of water and has a handy water gauge. Well this year I just got my tree and put it on this stand and closed the jaws with a lever. The jaws clenched, then suddenly released. I know that sometimes happens with the coaster so I pumped it up a bit more but this time it didn't seem to tighten.
