Fine strainer, handle too heavy to balance

This Rösle strainer is built like a tank, beautiful to look at, as fine a strainer as one could ask for, does an excellent job of removing even the finest particles from my tea to sift and grind my coffee but drove me crazy trying to use this thing. The handle is so heavy in relation to the strainer bowl that it falls off every mug I have. It might [be] perfect for another use, but if like me you need something to sift liquids into a coffee or tea cup or mug, you can keep looking as I did after

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Vulgarity

I'm so glad I bought this Rösle strainer.

I gritted my teeth a lot trying to decide if this Rösle stainless steel strainer was worth the high price. My last colander, which in hindsight was most likely a tetanus petri dish, expired due to a spinach accident. In short, I am very, very happy that I bought this filter. The thickness of the mesh, the strength of the rim, the comfortable grip, the quality of finish and the fact that it can move from side to side on my sink make it a masterpiece of design and ease of use. As I said, it was…

Poor quality with spray paint to hide imperfections

I was willing to try this filter despite knowing it was made in China, mainly due to a strong recommendation from ATC. When he received it, however, it became clear that the manufacturer had cut corners and attempted to cover up imperfections by painting over the welds with a metallic silver paint that he thought would go unnoticed (see photos). Well I won't pay $50 for a cheap strainer my food will most likely come into contact with this paint which could potentially contain lead. Rösle and…

Excellent sieve. Selling price $40.

This is a great strainer. When I bought it from Revain it was $40 and can be found on other websites and good kitchen supply stores for the same price. Right now I see that the Revain price is quoted at $62. Don't know if I would give 5 stars for the price. Anyway, about this filter: I looked around for a long time and hesitated (it's made in China, but at European prices). Needless to say, the quality is top notch. In my experience, European manufacturers who source goods made in China (e.g…
