Worth the Money!: Audio & Video Accessories

This isn't the most expensive antenna on the market (you might go crazy spending big bucks for better reception). But it was money well spent. I used a small magnetic antenna and decided to try a new antenna. The difference is huge! I consider the cable to be of high quality as the reception is strong and the loss is low. Cannot be compared to similar antennas but this is a huge win over its little magnetic brothers!

Pros
  • Pretty Packaging
Cons
  • Some Nuances

Better performance than FlightAware antenna

I have 7 FlightAware antennas and they work very well. I bought an AirNav antenna and after a month I saw the same performance as the flight antenna, with the difference that the cable length is 10m (my flight system is 4.5m long), then I can take my decoder and RPI with me place at home, and cheaper than a Flightaware system (AirNav antenna with cable $50; Flightaware antenna and LR400 cable I spent $75). I recommend this antenna!

Not as described

I didn't come up with the antenna described in this listing, the packaging was completely different and the cable had an MCX connector instead of the SMA connector shown in the listing. Still, I decided to give it a try anyway. Before that I had a small (6″) antenna from Revain for my ADS-B Raspberry Pi setup. After switching I felt an overall worse signal level where it should have been better (the mini antenna just sat on the deck, it was mounted on a pole). I will be returning this and…

3x improvement! I wish I had gotten this sooner.

I bought this to upgrade a smaller magnetic antenna and was constantly looking for reviews on what changes to expect. Look at my screenshot, use this one indoors (garage), it's connected to an RPI with a bandpass filter, I have almost no positions beyond 50 miles. In my screenshot plot, I now get almost twice as many positions over 50 miles than ALL positions under 50 miles. This came with pole mounting hardware, I installed it on a tall storage rack in the garage. This worked great with the…

  • Very good value for money

  • Unbelievable price

Almost zero reception. a bare piece of wire would be better

Maybe I got a defective device. I replaced the usual short antenna that picked up signals 30-45 miles away, but figured I could up my game by incorporating a special outdoor unit. I placed it outside, just above the roofline, in the same spot (actually a bit higher thanks to the longer cable) as the old one and fired up my 1090 dump. Well, he could only pick up some signals from about 5 miles away. The? I hooked up the old antenna cable that's in there now and immediately saw the number of…
