Great toolset & pretty good documentation

Good flexibility in terms of rules configuration, which gives you many options to adapt itself according your requirements (you can define custom actions for all kinds of triggers from simple services restarting or CPU utilization exceeding over 30%). For every check there are different types defined by its type-of action taken - notify for example could be one notification only while service down state might have another kind of notifications with email sending etc., so it definitely makes…

Pros
  • Highly configurable
  • Well structured codebase that is well documented.
  • Extremely flexible
Cons
  • Not bad

Perfect for our needs - free & easy to manage

The most important thing about icinga, it's free! We use this for our network infrastructure with many servers in different locations around Europe (France mostly). It does what we need - alerting when things go wrong or not working well enough to be considered 'good'. When you have more than one server/machine involved there can sometimes get confused by multiple alerts etc., but if they're all monitored together then everything works great :) If your looking at using something like icingaweb2

Pros
  • Free
  • Simple configuration compared others that are very expensive.
  • Multi platform support including Linux & Windows
  • Wide variety supported software monitoring agents available
Cons
  • Good but not great

Excellent configuration options & solid support

Ease at setting up, all things are configurable using templates or JSON files where required which removes much potential for issues later in use! Configuration can be tricky but if you work through it - no problems encountered so far. Good tool to have ready when needed. We had several tools monitoring infrastructure elements with different aims within one platform before this was adopted across our whole network/grid environment (around 60 systems). Previously we'd only relied upon manual…

Pros
  • Easy setup.
  • Excellent integration possibilities compared eith nagisio,
  • Very simple configuration interface; )Easy reports generation capability
Cons
  • Nothing
