http://www.augur.net/

I will study this project more closely over the next 6-12 months and prepare a second examination, but for now this to me seems a gambling clone nothing more. Nothing to mine. Nothing to support network wise for the population. I'm going to sign up for the Beta today, and RIP to Chris Farley, take a look at a cow's...myself, instead of taking his word for it.

Pros
  • Super Bowl prop bets for everything now. A similar project flashed across my eyes a few months ago and I almost threw a tenner at it, but instead demurred. Because I blatantly rip off the tastefully named Gregg Easterbrook in many of my autofill quips - in deference to my Lutheran upbringing, in general I am pro-topless and anti-gambling. Lots of people love gambling. I won 500 dollars on a scratch off once, just because of luck. I also have lost one dollar at a time more than 100 times. I love telling people what I think will happen. I love getting paid for being correct. Here Augur comes through with a telling people what I think and getting paid for it checkboxes.
Cons
  • Market prediction based of crowd sourcing and crowd fee setting - could be useful, but more likely this ETH based product will have a lot of charitable giving to get done before certain potential customers give a second look. Gambling is a social ill. In general, more people have deeper problems as a result than the deeper benefits of winning or the social interaction effects.
