Decentraland is a distributed platform for a shared virtual world that enables developers to build and monetize applications on top of it. The scarcity of land, on top of which applications can be built, creates hubs that capture user attention, which drives revenue to content creators. MANA tokens will be used to purchase land, goods, and services in-world. MANA tokens will also be used to incentivize content creation and user adoption, therefore bootstrapping the first decentralized virtual world.

Decentraland release The ZEIT Now 2.0! the Now platform provides a completely serverless experience, where developers don’t have to worry about anything other than their product.

After several months of development they also release Decentraland Avatars, Users can go on to claim a unique name on the blockchain. It helps friends and newcomers alike make contact.

Pros
  • Decentraland is a virtual reality platform here users can create experience and monetize content and applications land is owned by the community and land owners control what content is published on their portion of the land. Contents can range from a static 3D scene to interactive systems like games. Land is acquired by spending an ERC20 they call MANA and MANA can also be used to make in world purchases of digital goods and services.
Cons
  • I believe combining blockchain technology and VR/AR technology is one the best combinations imaginable. Therefor, as an investor - it's the smartest long term move you can make. These two technologies are both indefinitely here to stay. The amount of momentum and advancements in both industries is profound. I studied Decentraland for awhile - they are solid. However, there are several other VR cryptos that have very similar highlights (Spectiv VR, Voxelus etc.)
