Minereum $MNE is a project that consider itself as the first self-mining smart contract. The project has been dormant for a few years but supposedly relaunched sometime last year with an airdrop that attracted a lot of participants. Each Eligible person had to submit an Ethereum address to become a "Genesis address" and was sent 32,000 $MNE.
But... these tokens are locked and cannot be transfered. The project released a "level" model where $MNE holders had to pay a large amount of $ETH to upgrade to Level 2 and activate self mining and ability to sell the address. Also pay once more to upgrade to level 3 and finally be able to transfer or trade these airdropped coins. Up to 0.4 $ETH in total to upgrade to level 3.
Apparently many people did not like that. Airdrop aside, the project hasn't done much in the area of partnerships and use cases. The project attracted attention no doubt, especially from those that quickly upgraded to level 2 thinking they'd be able to withdraw the tokens.
Still waiting to see what the project has to offer that will make me want to upgrade my address to level 2.
