Qtum (Quantum) is an open-source project with a specifically defined application context for its token. Qtum is a utility token for running smart contracts and Dapps within the Qtum network .It is a UTXO-based smart contract protocol that uses a Proof-of - Stake (PoS) consensus model.
Qtum Coin blends ETH and BTC features of ETHEREUM and BITCOIN.  Qtum offers interesting possibilities given the fusion of the stability of Bitcoin with the smart contract features of ETH. 
The incorporation of the Bitcoin Main Chain provides Qtum a strong security base by the use of the Unspent Transaction Output (UTXO) system that avoids fraud on the blockchain. It is this UTXO system carried over from Bitcoin that ensures that transactions will not be registered twice.
Qtum offers a native wallet for clients, that is not special on its own, but Qtum has implemented several special features to its native wallet. The wallet was built to be entirely mobile as well to be able to communicate directly with the smart contracts in the Qtum chain.
