Instead of a fancy reversing camera, but which can give the impression that it is being watched with too much size.

We have had one of these Fresnel lenses before and are still very happy with them. We've used it in a nearly 20ft van for years and are now using it in a much shorter SUV. This time we needed a second lens for a slightly shorter van, but for now we've decided to buy this smaller version (8" x 6"). The van for this second Fresnel lens is several feet shorter than the original van mentioned earlier. The reason for choosing this smaller size is that when you go to the next size (12" x 8") you get the impression that there is another car following you all the time. So we tried this larger size on a second van first and found it to be too big. Of course, that's also our experience with a large lens in a shorter SUV. This means that in an SUV, you're constantly seeing something out of the corner of your eye in the rear-view mirror, giving the impression that you're being watched closely all the time. However, if you place it to the side of center (renew), which allows you to see the knees or maybe the legs of someone standing a few feet from the car, you'll find the right or better spot. The smaller version offers plenty of rear visibility, as does the next larger size, and remember that no matter the size, you will always be focusing on what's behind the car when using it. Experimenting with placement is more important than size. I recommend going with that size (8" x 6") and not going up unless you have a nearly 20ft van, then by all means go one step further. Finally, if your rear window is at about a 45 degree angle, don't even bother trying. I tried it for you and I can say that you will have a great view of the blue sky and nothing else. You'll only see the road behind your car and also to the side when it's near a near-vertical window or a window with a very small angle of less than 10 degrees (most SUVs, not sedans). This is a great product that will last for many, many years and is definitely incredibly cheaper than those good rear cameras.
