The instructions on the pouch that come with these lid tethers are very small and difficult to read! Directions uploaded online are still small numbers, but a little easier to read, but millimeter measurements vary between the two. The online/download guide will show you how to adjust the pressure and you can reverse the loop depending on which way you open your lid. The comments I've read about hinges regarding their ability to hold position are correct. Our cedar chest lid now holds the open position, but we couldn't find a pressure setting that slowed it down when closing. It still hits, maybe too heavy for two loops. I find it hard to believe they could ever handle a 45 pound load.
