Poor alternative to bedding

Our guinea pigs quickly destroyed this stake. They turned it over and chewed it. It took a day before it got disgustingly dirty. We tried to find an alternative to the bedding and it didn't work. I will say that the smell is less than the bedding, but we can get rid of the bedding for at least a week. It's also super thin.
