    Something has changed. on Food

    I have been feeding my rats this food for about a year. I had no problems until a few months ago. The texture seemed to change and the smell was completely gone, almost a chemical smell. I ordered two more bags to see if I got a bad bag but they were the same. My rats even refused to eat it.

    Best rat food in the grocery department

    Value for money - a little pricey but my rats only ate some of the cheaper brands so I threw most away. Oxbows are chunks instead of a set of ingredients thrown into a bag. Freshness is a resealable package. I only have two rats so the bag will last a very long time. But it's always fresh to the end. Flavor - I don't know, haven't tried it. Although the rats seem to agree.

    Ideal Basic Diet

    I've been using this for years and nobody has ever given up on it. If you keep rats, they need an alkaline diet. Feeding them leftovers as their main food will not help keep them healthy. I add fresh fruits and vegetables and sometimes yogurt or peanut butter as a reward or training aid. Sometimes they are also given bones to wear down their teeth a bit. A highly recommended product.

    Excellent value food

    I couldn't find the single pack option anywhere online so I went for the double pack. This food has always seemed to be of excellent quality, it has kept our three adult male rats healthy and has been feeding them for over a year now and they are easy to eat little pellets. I would recommend paying attention to your feeder as pellets and flat squats don't "flow" out of the feeder very well.

    My rats love it and are picky when it comes to rat food and treats.

    My rats love it and are picky when it comes to rat food and treats. I supplement my diet daily with vegetables and fruits and leave a plate of oxen in the plate, now food for adult rats. Always full. This is how they regulate themselves. I think it causes less anxiety about eating when it's always full and therefore less overeating and weight/health issues. They are very happy.

    healthy but tastes horrible - rats hate it

    As great as it is, my rats absolutely hate this food. like hate. I think they're starving instead of eating it lol. I can't blame them, I took a bite of one to see if it tasted right, how they behaved, how it was - it is. It's like eating crunchy mud with a little dash of salt for the very first taste that's the only taste. of course, after eating it for a month or two in a row, they got fed up with it. I will use my leftover packets as a base for a proper homemade mix, although I imagine they…
