Thickly padded frame instead of bare plastic, mesh sides are definitely slash proof, has a top door as well as a front door for depositing cat, not too big or small for recommended weight- cat can turn but not move so far off center it tips to one side, or prowl back and forth meowing in displeasure. We use this to take the cat to the vet. She fits it in just fine and can actually turn around if she wants. It has plenty of mesh areas so she can see out and it's easy to carry over your shoulder. The bottom pad comes out and can be washed which is also a plus.

I let my kitty explore it on her own before making a trip to the vet with it the following day, and she promptly curled up in it! The base is sturdy to give support when carrying and the carrier was easy for me to handle. I only added a towel so my kitty could feel even more hidden during the car ride and in the waiting room. At the time that I ordered this the description read the size as XL but it has been updated to Medium. Medium is the correct size so my review is based on the product design.The construction is well made and sturdy. The simple design makes it look high end.The straps are wide and sit comfortably on my shoulders without too much slippage. The material is heavy duty.I’ve washed it on gentle cycle no fabric softener and it still look brand new. Fits my medium size tabby well.

Great for my 10 pound cat. However my 12 pound cat is scrunched up. For cat the correct size sturdiness and comfort are good. I especially like the option of shoulder strap. Much easier to carry.
