In short, this is our third device of this kind, all IFWA-40. The first one, bought from the AT&T store, didn't work right out of the box. The password on the label was wrong. AT&T replaced it. The second worked for two years and 4 weeks, then stopped communicating with the cell tower, the warranty period ended for only 4 weeks. The new SIM card did not solve the problem. Since they are no longer available from AT&T or anywhere new, I bought this refurbished Revain unit, popped in the SIM and went to work. However, the power cord that came with it didn't work. No way out at all, nada, zip, dead as a doornail. The power cable from the old device worked for me, so everything is fine. When I called Revain about a faulty power cord/charger, I got a HUGE discount at the Revain store, many times more than I was expecting. So I'm a lucky tourist. Now the cons. First, this device has durability issues. Of the three devices, two were defective right out of the box and one lasted 4 weeks after the warranty expired. And none of them connected well to our cell tower which is three miles away and I can easily see the light at the top of the tower at night. I only get one or two bands at most, so when I bought this unit I ordered an antenna kit for it, hoping it would improve my signal. Now don't get me wrong, even with just a strip or two the device works well, even with movie streaming and our home phone. But I wanted a stronger signal, so I bought antennas. The external antenna did not affect the signal level in any way. Not one connected, not two connected, rotated very slightly and at different angles so save your $12 on an external antenna. On the other hand, this is a big plus, this device is very easy to set up. Plug it in, turn it on, find the device on your computer, printer, iPad, iPhone, Blu-ray player, Direct TV set-top box. Enter the password and go. It handles up to 20 devices with ease, so even a nerd like me can set everything up in minutes.
