For one thing, my battery was too hot to record.

While I put 1 star; I have requested a replacement. I tested with 4 sets of batteries (2 different types) and the right side charged to the last light, after which it just kept flashing. The last time I decided to see if it would ever sell; it isn't, but I couldn't remove this battery without a kitchen towel because it was so hot. My advice is to keep an eye on the first batteries you try to charge.
