Review on VGA Splitter 2 Port USB Powered - High Resolution, Mirror Mode & Duplication Support by Paul Williams

Great for retro PVM gaming and streaming/recording

This splitter is the minimum required to play VGA/RGBS output. Don't just use a Y-cable adapter as this will attenuate the original signal. I use this distribution amplifier to take the signal from my Sync Strike (SCART to VGA with sync stripper) and route it to my PVM and recording computer. With a VGA-4 BNC (RGBS) patch cable I can connect an output to my PVM. I use a standard VGA cable to send other output to my recording computer. I am using Startech USB3HDCAP with drivers that support 240p RGB capture over VGA. Since the device is powered by USB, I can power it directly from my recording computer and don't need an additional power supply. I have successfully separated my RGB sources for simultaneous playback on my PVM and recording. Before that I tried a regular BNC RGBS distribution amplifier but couldn't get it to work for my needs. If you're looking for a cheap way to split your VGA/RGBS source, I recommend you go for one of these.
