*Update below This device is way better than I expected. It is very responsive and exceeds the capabilities of most traditional head units. The sound quality was also a notable improvement over the base stereo system, and the equalizer allows for a notable improvement in sound quality even when using standard speakers. The seller/manufacturer was also very responsive to my questions and I received the item a little quicker than expected. switch to a newer car. I knew there was some risk in buying something like this, but I don't regret it after playing around with it for a few days. I did a quick and dirty EQ calibration with my phone and a Dayton mic and got great results. Bluetooth audio works great and I've confirmed that you can connect to multiple devices at the same time (phone and OBDII in my case). The radio reception and the quality were also excellent. Pros: - The unit I received actually has 64GB of storage, not the advertised 32GB - Screen quality is excellent - The wiring harness that came with it was 100% plug and play. I installed this thing in 30 minutes - A small amount of factory unnecessary programs can be removed - Boot times are quicker than expected, typically around 10 seconds or less - Build quality / material is really good, almost perfectly matching the stock material. missed this on the product page, but the button colors are fully customizable. I wanted it to look as normal as possible so I matched it to AC (the color is almost identical to the person, it looks more yellow in the photos than it looks) - Mapping the buttons on the steering wheel is very easy . Cons: - Some more intense uses. can sometimes limp - the built-in equalizer is not quite on audiophile level. It definitely works, but to calibrate the sound I had to combine it with the equalizer in Poweramp. The background randomly doesn't load on startup (although my remake may have affected this, but I'm not sure). Audio playback noise level is quite high, although you won't notice it while driving, I do hear a slight hiss when testing in a parking lot - the onboard WiFi only works at 2.4GHz, don't expect ultra-fast speeds. It's still fast enough for watching 1080p YouTube videos, but major upgrades may take a while. The launcher app is not very customizable. You can't change/remove the radio and clock widgets on the home screen (unless I've missed something). However, this doesn't matter as most third-party launchers don't scale and work properly for this use case. Don't expect this to perform like a modern high-end device. I'd recommend only installing apps you know you'll be using - I upgraded the base stereo in a 2010 Prius and had a standard outlet that wasn't being used. I don't know what it was for but I didn't come across anything that didn't work so I just left it. The mount is mostly factory, but there is some play when tightening the screws, meaning it may be slightly offset from the original finish. Spend a little time centering it properly and you'll be fine. Who it's for: Anyone who knows Android and likes tons of look-and-feel options, media players, vehicle data, and more. If you like messing around with technology in everything, then you'll probably love it. I'll also update if I notice any issues that aren't obvious yet. Edit 3/26/20: So I installed new speakers and amplifiers. I found the low level outputs to sound extremely low quality with severe clipping at low frequencies. However, this is more than compensated for by the high-level outputs. After many tests with a good quality sound card and an oscilloscope, I found that the signal (with flat EQ) did not clip at any volume, even at 100%. I found this surprising as many aftermarket units exhibit some clipping/distortion at over 80-90% volume. The frequency response of the amplifier is also completely flat. Normally this shouldn't be a problem, but since we haven't had any other tests it's nice to have confirmation. I also installed a reversing camera without any problems. TLDR: This is great for use with factory speakers and any aftermarket speakers with an amplifier that have line level inputs (which pretty much all are). DO NOT use regular RCA pre-outs. I still highly recommend this device.
