I was looking for stainless steel or glass straws as I recently started drinking hot tea daily and was concerned that the tannin in the tea would stain my teeth. While I was gravitating towards stainless steel straws for their durability, when I read that Hummingbird makes their straws out of borosilicate glass, I thought that these glass straws would be more than durable. So far, so good. I haven't seen any chips or signs of wear on the straw I used (I believe Hummingbird also advertises a 100% guarantee against breakage on these straws, although I haven't seen any details on what that guarantee covers). . I also love how elegant these straws look and how the transparency of the glass makes it easy to tell if a straw is really clean (which was one of the downsides I've read about stainless steel straws). Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
