I'm saying almost 100% because I had 2 errors writing to the drive. Yes, it could be software, but it could also be firmware. Unlike the exact same drives tested by several others, it recognized every blank DVD I tried. I wish I could say the same about the built in NEC DVD+R that came with my Dell. It was always very picky and I eventually gave up. Then I bought a second internal model from IO Magic. It reads everything fairly well, but won't burn DVDs or even CD-Rs. That's how it was on the Sony external drive, which worked fine until the firmware for some reason loses contact with the computer, and then the drive disappears (and the hard drive deteriorates). Also, Plextor is the only one that consistently works with DVDXCOPY or DVDNEXTCOPY.
