It's good to put a point on a pencil with it. It is designed for regular #2 pens. Much bigger and the pencil doesn't fit in the barrel. There is no sharpening waste collection. Shredded wood and graphite stay where you throw or spill them. This can become a very sharp point. These small golf pencils also get a new nib in the form of a regular Boston Wand or electric sharpener, rather than an update to the short nib they come with. I keep a few for myself and put the rest in a backpack that my community will make over the summer.
