1. To update via WIFI you have to go to your destination, don't know why but if you don't you will get an update error so I gave it 4 stars because of what I had to search the internet to fix an issue that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place2. Use Garmin Express on PC or Mac to get large updates faster before use3. Aside from that one issue, it's a great GPS so far. Just sit and play with it and read the instructions. I know it's not as simple as random, but there are so many complaints about them breaking. This is the best option4. Great suggestion this unit is electronic and generates heat, do not leave it in the window while driving in the cold in hot weather without a defroster to keep the unit cool and in winter try to keep it away from the heat or when possible keep away from low heat. I am almost certain that this is why these devices fail due to overheating of the battery and components
