This is dark gray. We have a brand new house with painted and PU stairs and a 4 year old dog that flies up and down these stairs. She slipped several times and dangerously. I didn't really want to nail/glue anything to our new ladder if we could avoid it, but I didn't want it to hurt itself either, so I chose it. So far they look fantastic! The backs are sticky enough to stay in place even when I'm trying to make them, but they're very easy to peel off when needed. Mrs said they looked cheap right away but after installation they were fully approved. I used a cardboard square cut to size as a guide for even spacing. The dog still flies up and down the stairs but no longer rolls over. They definitely add a nice cushion to the stairs, even for people who have had knee surgery. A cat will try not to walk on it, preferring instead to tiptoe along the edge of the stairs! UPDATE 7 months later: cats are now using them as scratch mats and have destroyed them. I will buy more but am trying a different brand as the price has gone up about 50% since my last purchase. The stairs below are undamaged.
