I've been looking for depth gauges for my drill bits for a long time. Most of them had a ring with two set screws on each side that were tightened on the drill press. It didn't work for me because the collar never tightened or moved no matter how hard I turned the set screws. Even trying to tighten enough on both sides escaped my grip. I like these collars because they wrap around the bit and a set screw is tightened from the outside, compressing the collar. The pen-shaped tightening tool is so small that it is difficult to grasp. It takes some practice to position it correctly and then tighten it.
